Favored in Asia, green teas are known for their health benefits and offer a wide array of flavors. They tend to be mild and delicate in flavor with fresh, vegetative qualities. Green tea is produced when withered tea leaves are pan-fried or steamed to prevent oxidation and then shaped and dried to preserve their delicate flavors. Green teas are generally served alone or with sweetener and can be enjoyed hot or cold. Lower steeping temperatures produce the best cup. A cup of green tea contains about half of the amount of caffeine as a cup of black tea.
